Huawei, Samsung and Qualcomm have unveiled their modems that support the fifth generation 5G networks, and MediaTek is about to follow suit. The Taiwanese company announced that it is “almost time” for “intelligence to meet speed” by unveiling a new 5G AI product in May, which means we have a maximum of 10 days until the new product is unveiled.
The MediaTek Helio M70 was initially introduced as the first modem from MediaTek to support 5G VLANs but has not yet officially arrived or has not yet been shipped to any manufacturer. We do not know if the new processor will have a built-in 5G modem or we will see the official launch of MediaTek Helio M70, but with such a schedule, we will not be able to see any devices using this chip by the end of 2019.
MediaTek’s top priority is Artificial Intelligence and 5G. The MediaTek Helio P90 processor is equipped with 12nm technology with an independent IQ module capable of reaching 1Gb for artificial intelligence. MediaTek claims that the human body can be traced and read certain gestures, allowing aesthetic filters to be applied and background blurring instantly in live videos.
